I just got these really great flashcards from Etsy Shop, The Flashcard Zoo. These flashcards are fab because they are a fun way to learn the alphabet and useful because you can practice writing the letters on the back of each card. There are four different type of glossy 4 x 6 alphabet cards. You can buy ones specifically for girls, boys, for both genders, or have them customized.

The cards are laminated, waterproof, and super sturdy. Each one displays an attractive photo that will keep a child interested.

You can keep writing and wiping off the cards by using washable markers or white board crayons. Price is $30 for each deck. For customized cards, they are $35 each. I love them and think they would make a great gift!

I must admit I was a little skeptical on opening the cute Goosie flash cards box that I was sent to review. I gave them to my two-and-a-half-year-old, turned my back and thought nothing of it. He then demanded every ten minutes or so that I sit and listen to him reading every card over and over again. I then knew he was on to something. On further investigation, I realized he was right. We now love the idea of personalized flash cards and the memory learning tool that they provide to inquisitive young minds.

The large 4″ by 7″ flash cards are are made from stiff and glossy laminated card material. The corners are nicely rounded off to prevent any possible skin scratches. The high quality printing ensures images appear bold, shiny and vibrant. The full 26 card Alphabet set that we were sent would make a really cool gift. A plus with these cards is that you could present your child with a random card selection to improve their recognition and word skills. I haven’t mentioned the really neat part yet. You can go to the superb Goosie Cards web site and design your own flash cards. You just upload your own images and then add your own lines of text to make a personalized learning tool for your child, creating a real life visual aid. Goosie Cards claim that kids with autism may benefit from these personalized learning tools. So for example, you could upload a picture of Uncle Bob washing his car and add a few lines of text describing the picture. The child will then learn by association, developing reading and language skills around the image.

Goosie Cards promise all personalized orders will be dispatched within 3 days. Custom design card sets are priced between $28 and $52 and the standard range from $16 to $32. Price wise, they are not a giveaway, but I can assure you that the quality will not disappoint you. There are 11 categories to choose from in the pre-printed range including Shapes & Colors, Trucks & Tractors and Animal Kingdom. These cards received the 2008 Product of the Year Award from Creative Child Magazine. Go get your kid wised up at www.goosiecards.com or in the aisles at Toys “R” Us. Use coupon code freeship08 for free shipping until 12/31/08.
