I’m always looking for good quality hair products for kids so when I found out about Hot Tot, I was please to find out the kind of range they have. The company is new, having only started in 2010.

Hot Tot sells salon-quality styling products for babies and children, suitable for sensitive skin. There are no harsh ingredients and they are charitable too. Proceeds go to Save the Children, CASA and Ronald McDonald’s House.  I received these small samples:

I tried the Conditioning Detangler on my daughter and unfortunately since the sample comes in a small packet, I didn’t have enough to smooth out her really knotty hair in the shower. However, I’m sure if I had a bottle it would have done the trick.

The Styling Gel sample I used to touch up my son’s hair, which was frizzy on the back. He didn’t seem to mind me putting it on and there’s no distinct smell for him to complain about either. I even used it on a strand on my hair. Sticky and holds hair well!

Organic baby clothing brand Green Babies has a new bodycare line out! Introducing Baby Me Shampoo & Wash, Energizing Bubble Bath, Calming Bubble Bath, Smooth Me Detangler and Lotion Potion Moisturizer.

Bath time could be fun if you didn’t have to wash your children’s hair. All the “my eyes! my eyes!” does not make for an enjoyable hair washing experience. I was sent a sample of Splash Guard’s Lil Rinser and was interested to see how effective it would be.

I do use another product to help keep water out of their faces but wanted to give this Lil Rinser a try.

The press release reads that it’s a form-fitting design that creates a crown over the forehead and ears of a baby or child, safeguarding their face from shampoo, suds and soapy water.

I first tried it on my 5-year-old son who was taking a shower. I placed Lil Rinser over his head and let the water run on the top of his head. It sort of worked, until my kid moved his head around. Okay, so maybe not ideal for the shower. Then I tried it on him and my 2-year-old while they were in the bath another time. Perhaps my son’s head is big but he told me he felt it didn’t fit right (perhaps it shouldn’t come in one size only?) Overall, it did protect their faces but they didn’t like the product on their heads for long. So if your child stays still, it will work.

The only criticism I have with LiL Rinser is that when I did have the product over their heads, I needed a pail or cup in my other hand to pour water over their hair. That said, I prefer the product I have been using for the past three years. I also rely on the good ‘ole washcloth.

However, if you don’t like using the washcloth and have no other product to keep water out of your little one’s face, then you can try this. It might make your child feel a little secure in the bath.
