Mom and Me

Fun activity books for adults and kids are the trend these days. The Quarto Group has released the following illustrated books.

Mom and Me: An Art Journal to Share
By Lacy Mucklow and Bethany Robertson

Publisher: Race Point Publishing
$12.99 US / $16.99 CAN

Share time with your child with this full-color art journal. You can write each other letters, draw what scares them, imagine what they want to be when they are grown up, and color a scene using only one favorite color.

Last night we did a few of the pages. They activities included draw something that makes you happy and if you could invite someone for dinner, draw them. Our artwork turned out to be pretty funny.

Stick it to em
Stick it to ‘Em: Playful Stickers to Color & Create: 275+ stickers with sass for family, friends, and frenemies
By Bailey Fleming
Publisher: Walter Foster
$19.95 US / $25.95 CAN

Stick it to ‘Em is a book full of stickers you can customize. The messages are full of sass.

This guide includes a list of colorful art tools in addition to easy drawing and lettering techniques and step-by-step tutorials, all designed to get your cheeky creativity flowing.

My daughter colored these stickers in. However, I soon realized this book isn’t  for children. There are inappropriate phrases for a person under 18.

Hand lettering A-Z

Hand Lettering A to Z: A World of Creative Ideas for Drawing and Designing Alphabets
By Abbey Sy
Publisher: Rockport Publishers
$22.99 US / $29.99 CAN

Hand Lettering A to Z is a fun, hands-on book in which artist and calligrapher Abbey Sy presents her creative lettering and invites artists from several countries to contribute alphabets of their own–all unique, all hand drawn.

Languages include French, Spanish, Irish, Swedish, Portuguese, and more. Readers can use the phrases when making cards, gifts, or embellishing their journals. And unlike calligraphy, hand lettering does not require disciplined study.

My daughter practiced!
