Giveaway: Marlow and The Monster
Today’s giveaway is of the new children’s book Marlow and the Monster.
Monsters hide under beds, in closets and lurk outside closed doors. No matter where these creatures take up residence, most children go through a phase when they worry about monsters, ghosts and other creepy-crawlies being in their room at night. So how can parents help them cope?
Sharon Cramer (also author of The Sneezy Wheezy Day) is a nurse and mom of three who dealt with her fair share of monsters while raising her three sons. She tackles the subject in her latest book Marlow and the Monster, a book every parent will want to keep on hand for those spooky nights!
My opinion: Good idea but the story drags on a bit. Also I wish the illustrations were a little more exciting. When I was reading through each page my kids listened and looked – but I could tell they were waiting for something different to happen in terms of the drawings. At the end they weren’t too impressed but That doesn’t mean your child will feel the same. If Marlow and the Monster is supposed to not make children afraid of monsters and other creepy things in their room - I think the story does the opposite. Again, everyone is different in terms of their perspective on stories.
