Two Kid-Friendly Bug Repellents From PIC
It’s summer time and that means bug time. Here are two PIC (Pest Free Living) products recently certified by the national organization “Parent Tested, Parent Approved” : BUGABLES Repellent Stickers and TWIST-IT.
TWIST-IT is a new flexible device that repels mosquitos by wrapping around essential summer items such as umbrellas, beach chairs and bikes. Designed for outdoor parties, picnics or poolside, the combination of all-natural ingredients including essential oils, geraniol, lemongrass and citronella will keep mosquitos at bay within a ten foot radius for up to 200 hours. Since there’s no need to apply it to skin, TWIST-IT® won’t cause allergic reactions, doesn’t need to be reapplied, and is perfect for those who are wary of repellent sprays containing DEET.
On the packaging they also say you can put TWIST-IT on a stroller. I say yes but depending on the type of stroller because of the hook. As for use, I would put this on an umbrella where you’re eating your backyard dinner. The smell is not so strong.
BUGABLES is perfect for kids and can be adhered to items including hats and clothing. Containing all-natural repellents, Bugables® are sold in fun shapes and colors, last 72 hours and are reusable. It works by emitting an “aura” of all natural plant-based essential oils.
Personally I wouldn’t give this to a child under 6. Even though it’s supposedly kid-friendly you wouldn’t want the kids to think they can play with them. I stuck them on our stroller and so far I can’t really tell if they work – because we’re always on the move. I’m going to assume it’s keeping the pests away.
TWIST-IT os $5.99 and BUGABLES Mosquito Repellent Stickers are $3.99. Available at more than 10,000 retail outlets, including Walmart, Walgreens and Toys R Us.
