DVD: Who Do You Think You Are? Season 2


The DVD pick of the day is for parents. Who Do You Think You Are? Season 2 follows eight celebrities as they journey through ancestral history and share their life-altering discoveries.

Based on the British show – this American version is seen on NBC. Since I always miss it on Friday nights I am thrilled to have these DVDs to watch on my own time.

Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love), Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City), country music superstar Tim McGraw, Emmy® winner Rosie O’Donnell, Grammy® winner Lionel Ritchie, and actors Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives), Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), and Ashley Judd (The Missing, Double Jeopardy) travel the world to uncover the secrets and surprises of their family trees. Lisa Kudrow is an executive producer for the series and appears in Season 1. The fascinating series paints an intimate portrait of how a journey through history can change everything – including one’s idea of self (DVD 2-Disc Set, $39.99, Season 2 premiered on NBC in February 2012.

Working alongside genealogists, researchers and historians, the stars excavates stories from their families’ past. Vanessa Williams finds that breaking down barriers runs in her family. Tim McGraw discovers the source of his own pioneering spirit. Rosie O’Donnell follows her mother’s roots to the grim realities of the Irish potato famine.
