Selk’Bag: Lightweight Sleeping Bag Also For Play

2

It this a Gumby costume? No! It’s a Selk’ Bag. I’ve never seen this before but thought it was kind of cool when I unrolled it.

The Lite Kids version is a lightweight wearable sleeping bag that is designed to keep youngers warm at night. The 4G Lite comes in three fun colors – bright blue, violet and dark grey. You can use this for camping, for sleepovers, and just laying out in the backyard to look at the stars.

It’s sort of for the outdoorsy family but for ones that don’t like to go camping – I suggest children can get into this on cold winter evenings and lay on the couch.

I got one for my 6-year-old. However, he didn’t want to go in it. My 3-year-old daughter wanted to instead and liked it. That said…I’m saving it for her.

Here are the features:

A new quick-release hand closure system allows for quick entry and exit of the hands

Baffled construction to eliminate cold spots

A soft polyester shell with a water resistant finish (DWR)

Reinforced nylon soles prevent wear; lateral grips give traction on multiple surfaces

Double front entry-zippers and a right hip zipper make for quick entry while granting access to pants pockets

An insulated hood for added warmth

A convenient carry sack for compact portability

Thermal collar around the head and neck to prevent drafts

Exaggerated draft tubes to stop heat loss around zippers

Wider zipper tape prevents snags

I think this is a fun item, especially for playing  outside. Since it is spring now – I think you can still use this for chilly nights when sitting outside. Kids Version is $79. The adult version is $99.

Sleeping bags work to trap stationary air within the bag itself whilst you sleep, using your body as a radiator to circulate warm air without releasing it. The best kind of sleeping bags are those with features that secure in this heat, whether that’s from an exceptional filling that lofts well, baffles that seal out every cold spot, or the impressive hood that traps in air near your ears and neck…

Sleeping bags that are made from cotton are the best since they retain heat and warmth at a longer time compared to synthetic fibers. `*,'”
