Tots Can Join In The Ride
We have been blessed with a two-year-old that loves the outdoor life. At every opportunity she can be found yelling at the front door with her shoes in her hand. This means she wants to go out and doesn’t care which way. Now she is thrilled with the added option of coming biking with dadda with the help from the Kangaroo Centre Mount child carrier from WeeRide.
This lightweight carrier sits neatly on its own supplied mounting bar which is suspended between the seat post and the bike frame’s head tube located under the handlebars. Most child seats are installed behind the saddle but this one fits between the saddle and the front. This provides you with the ability to watch your child when on the move and your child gets to watch where you’re going too.
It has been designed to fit most bikes and it fitted fairly easily to my mountain bike. It took around 20 minutes to read the instructions and install the device. The seat has a hefty looking 5 point harness to fix your child firmly to the cushioned seat. It has adjustable foot wells and a soft front pad for your child to rest on in case he or she falls asleep while you’re out and about. The seat is quite narrow but needs to be so it doesn’t interfere with your knees and peddle action. The seat can be adjusted back and forth to find a position that keeps your knees clear but also helps you to set the bike’s center of gravity to an optimum position. It can also be moved back enough to prevent your little biker from grabbing the handle bars!
WeeRide say the seat is good for children up to 40lbs. Our little girl filled the seat pretty well and I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be able to fit. We’ll sure be able to bike the rest of the summer out together though. I don’t think this seat is ideal for long journeys. Bike rides under 30 minutes seem to work out best for everyone. This product is not expensive and retails around $60. I found it online at Comfort 1st.
