Audio Books: The Scrambled States of America

For road trips or just for reading at home, The Scrambled States of America (Book and CD set) by Laurie Keller is a fun audio book for children. The story begins with the first annual states party. Virginia and Idaho hatch a plan to swap spots so each can see another part of the country. Before the party is over, all the states decide to switch places, getting scrambled.

Reading through the book, as well as listening to it, kids will learn the names of the states and many fun facts about them. The illustrations are whimsical and colorful, and attracted the attention of my preschooler right away.

The Scrambled States of America (Macmillan Young Listeners) is a very clever way for everyone to learn their 5o states. Price is $9.99.
