There are no surprises with the wooden Anka Convertible High Chair. It's how they used to make them. Most high chairs on the market today are sturdy, but are a dreary combination of plastics and metals. This fairly light weight high chair is straight back to basics.
It is made from well finished sustainable wood and looks and feels solid. There is a washable and comfortable padded seat cushion which detaches for easy cleaning. The wooden tray is easy to slide out by depressing the two push locks, providing easy access for baby. Included is a dish washer safe, hard plastic tray cover which snaps on easily to provide a safe eating surface. The chair folds up fairly easily but does not look obtrusive in any room, so we have left it free standing when not in use.
To assemble, it took 10 minutes to do because of the easy to follow instructions. This chair will convert to a booster seat easily by removing a few components and adjusting the foot rest and seat height if necessary. Anka claims children up to 5 years old or 50 lbs can use it. It certainly feels like it will last many more than 5 years. Our two year old doesn't seem to object too much by being strapped in at family meal times. This chair has certainly provided us with some quiet time, so in that respect worth every penny. This is a well made, pleasant and good looking product and would make any house happier for its presence.
The Anka Convertible High Chair is the newest one on the market. Its high end cousin, the Svan High Chair is popular with celebrities Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Brooke Shields and Kim Raver.
