FOR DADS

(The following reviews for this category were written by a dad!)

When Seagate asked me if I wanted to review the Seagate Freeagent Desk For Mac I was kind of luke warm. Sure I said, send it over. The next day it arrived. I unpacked this strange but polite looking device and placed it on the desk. Being a few years out of the technology loop, I was kind of wondering what I should do with it now.

I followed the "baby could do" instructions, powered it up and connected it to my computer with one of the three included firewire cables. The device immediately started to glow silently like a delightful aluminum chunk of Kryptonite. An icon popped up on my desktop and it was ready to go. So what can I do with it I asked. Well on the side of the box is states that its 1TB capacity is good for 320,000 pictures, 240,000 songs or 1000 movies. Now that's a lot.

If you're into movies then that's an awful lot of movies inside something no bigger than a box of pop tarts! Then I realized that this device could open up a whole new hobby for me with it's abundant storage capability. In comparison, my macbook hard drive was using only 24GB of its capacity. Now that isn't much. I also started to play around with the Time Machine function on my new Mac book which auto updates and saves the files you have altered so your data is always backed up every day.

So if you're looking for a nice sleek gift for someone who isn't even maybe so technology minded, then this could be a winner for you. It comes with a fantastic 5 year warranty but looks like it's carved from solid metal anyway, so I don't expect it to go wrong. I'll sleep tonight knowing my precious data be safe for evermore !

Seagate FreeAgent Desk-Drive for Mac
Capacticities: 500 GB; 1 TB; 1.5 TB
Price: $169.99 for 500GB; $269 for 1TB and $349.99 for 1.5TB

One of the smartest things I did when I bought our new minivan was to fit WeatherTech Digitalfit FloorLiners to the driver and front passenger foot wells. Fitting is as easy as opening the box, removing your old floor mats and sliding the new ones in. What's real nice about these floor protectors is that they cover the whole area where your muddy, snowy or oily feet are likely to be at. My original pristine carpets are sitting underneath like a lost Egyptian Pharaoh's tomb under the desert sand!

WeatherTech produce front row, back row and cargo area FloorLiners for most vehicles. They are made from tough plastic resin and come in three colors to best complement your trim. When I go to the car wash, cleaning is as easy as hanging them up and giving them a quick scrub with the soapy brush and then a blast with the spray gun. They are then as good as new. Now that winter is here, I really appreciate these FloorLiners. The snow from my boots stays contained within the confines of the mat as they have an edge wall, keeping all the slush from getting onto your carpets. The only downside is the price. A front set will set you back around $99. The upside is that they are good quality and made here in the U.S.A. The question is, are they worth it? I think so as I have just received my new Weathertech FloorLiners for our pick up truck. I'm off to go slide them in! Buy them straight from Weathertech.com. Shipping takes about a week.

Price: $24.99

This perforated toy bucket has an inner section which the wet bath toys are placed into after bath time. Once the bath has drained, simply place the inner bucket into the sealed outer bucket and all the toys can be stored neatly under the sink. The buckets are colorful, very well made and hold a good number of small toys. For more info, you can also visit www.kuster-usa.com.
